Many people around the country and world get divorced because of money problems. The wife may not like all of the toys and electronics that her husband buys, or the husband may not like all the shopping that his wife does. Maybe she’s a shopaholic and buys more than the family can possibly ever use, or he could hold a tight rein on the purse strings and not provide the things his family needs. Although there are certainly other reasons, lack of money seems to cause the most problems. Thanks to these tough economic conditions, many families have had to cut back spending which lead to many disagreements.
It’s best for couples in this situation to set up a budget so they can learn how to use their money properly. There should be a place setup to hold all of the paid bills and receipts. A photo storage box is excellent for this purpose. It will be much easier for you to file taxes at the end of the year if you keep everything organized. You may want to consider having three boxes of bills since the IRS recommends that you keep all paperwork for at least three years.
Your computer can be another great budgeting tool. You could start your spreadsheeet program and setup columns with headings such as housing, credit cards, car expenses, entertainment, etc. The left side of the spreadsheet should consist of the months of the year. This spreadsheet will allow you to track your expenses throughout the year easily. At the end of every month you’ll be able to total the expenses under each tab in your file box and place the totals under the appropriate heading. You have to add up all the different columns at the end of the year. If you have everything calculated already, it will be much easier for you to file taxes.
